BIKE - MECHANIC

General Purpose

The Bike Mechanic is responsible for the repair and preventive maintenance of motorbikes used for rapid first-response and mobile medical support, ensuring they remain safe and available for emergency dispatch at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in motorbike engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance including oil changes, chain/sprocket, and tire servicing.
• Inspect and service emergency response bikes to ensure roadworthiness and safety compliance.
• Attend to minor electrical faults on motorbikes (battery, lighting, horn/siren) or coordinate with the Auto Electrician for complex issues.
• Maintain service records and parts usage logs for each motorbike.
• Report recurring faults or parts shortages to the Fleet Coordinator / Workshop In-Charge.
• Support rapid turnaround repairs to minimize bike downtime given their frontline response role.

Skills & Competencies

• Good working knowledge of motorbike engines and common two-wheeler faults.
• Skilled in the use of standard motorbike servicing tools and equipment.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under time pressure.
• Willingness to work in shifts and respond promptly to breakdowns.

Working Conditions

• Workshop and field environment; exposure to noise, grease, and moving parts.
• May require travel to breakdown locations across the region.
• On-call availability for emergency breakdowns, including nights and holidays.

Qualification: Matriculation with 3 S Workshop Certification / trade certification in motorbike/two-wheeler mechanics preferred.

Experience: – Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in motorbike repair and maintenance. Valid motorbike riding license preferred.
