IG Sindh Visits SIEHS-1122 Headquarters, Explores Stronger Partnership to Save Lives Across Sindh

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Memon, PSP, on Wednesday visited the head office of Sindh Integrated Emergency & Health Services (SIEHS-1122) with his core team to review the organization’s work and discuss ways to strengthen coordination between Sindh Police and Sindh’s emergency medical response network.

The delegation was received by Brig. (R) Tarique Quadir Lakhiar, CEO – SIEHS, and the senior management team. SIEHS, a Section 42 not-for-profit institution working under the Health Department, Government of Sindh, operates the 1122 ambulance service and nurtures the pre-hospital management matrix across all districts of Sindh.

During the visit, the IG Sindh received a detailed walkthrough of how emergencies are handled—from the initial call at the control room to ambulance dispatch, on-scene care and transport to health facilities. The delegation also toured the fleet area, where they witnessed advanced life support ambulances, rapid response motorbikes, mountain bicycles and a scaled model of Sindh’s first boat ambulance designed for hard-to-reach communities.

Reflecting on the visit, Mr. Memon noted that police and medical responders often face the public simultaneously during critical incidents.

“In most serious cases, a police mobile and an ambulance arrive almost together,” he said. “When both teams conduct themselves with professionalism and compassion, it reassures citizens that the state is fully present in their moment of need.”

Discussions during the visit focused on improving on-ground coordination, including smoother movement of ambulances on highways, support at high-risk scenes and faster information-sharing during major emergencies.

Brig. Tarique Lakhiar also introduced the IG Sindh to field teams and briefed the delegation on the clinical and technical capabilities of the fleet. He appreciated the support Sindh Police provides in securing locations, managing traffic flow and creating a safe environment for medical responders.

“Our teams often stand side by side with the police at accident sites and other emergencies,” the CEO said. “Strengthening this partnership will help ensure that people in Sindh receive a safer, faster and more organized response when they call for help.”

The visit concluded with an understanding that both institutions will work towards a more structured and collaborative framework, with focused areas of cooperation — all aimed at facilitating the public more effectively and with heart.
